Streetart in Puerto de la Cruz

My first trip to Puerto de la Cruz had a rather silly motivation. I wanted to buy a mug with a lizard on it. I had bought one the first time here, but to my sadness, it broke. I kept joking that we would have to fly to Tenerife to buy a new one, and here we are!

Ben’s trip to Puerto also had a silly motiveation, or rather a motivation close to his stomach. He wanted to eat at our favorite restaurant, Pomodoro, on the cliff above the sea. We stayed in Puerto last time and we already knew the town a little. We had already seen a lot of the sights, so we could afford to be a little frivolous with our time.

However, both of our missions proved to be only partially successful. I found a mug with a lizard, but it wasn’t exactly the same mug with a lizard as the one before, which was obviously a huge problem! Of course, I realize that it was pointless to hope that they hadn’t changed the design of their souvenirs in five years. But hope dies last! In the end, I found a mug that was a bit similar.

(Spoiler: A few days later, I found the same mug as the broken one in Garachico. It was a different color, but that doesn’t bother me so much. So now I have two lizard mugs :))

The lizard is one of the symbols of Tenerife

When we got to our favorite cliff with restaurants inside, we found out that Pomodoro had unfortunately closed during COVID. Or at least on that day, the restaurant looked completely deserted. Fortunately, the Rustico restaurant remained open next to it. They also cook well there and the view of the sea is just as great. So we can recommend it as well. We chose from the “Fresh fish” menu and were not disappointed.

We also encountered a huge amount of street art in Puerto. I was probably noticing it more because one of my friends is interested in it and he passed his enthusiasm to me. I became a hunter of beautiful pictures on walls, stairs, doors, alleys, and forgotten corners. So this post is a gallery of the best street art I encountered in the streets of Puerto. I also captured a few nice pictures in Garachico and La Laguna. I hope you enjoy this street art as much as I do.

You can find the owl between the Embassy canarias branch at the top and Calle Bolivia at the bottom.

Door to the parallel world, probably my favorite
And a window into the sea
It’s not exactly street art, but I simply had to include this statue 😀
The cat isn’t street art either, but I loved it too much 😀
Can you see the resemblance? 😀
Good night!
